The Shoreview Community Garden Club (SCGC) began with a group of local gardeners in 1991 and celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2016. It is an affiliate of the Minnesota Horticultural Society.
The purpose of the SCGC is to:
Educate members in all phases of gardening, horticulture practices and arranging
Aid in the conservation of natural resources promote civic beauty
Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm (September through May) in the Council Chamber Room at the Shoreview Community Center. Guest speakers talk on a variety of garden-related subjects. The public is invited at a minimal charge.
Other activities include:
Members-only potluck dinner in September to begin the new season. Annual holiday party (members only) to start off the new calendar year. A public plant sale, generally in May, where members get “first dibs” on plants. Evening and weekend tours of local and members' gardens during the months of June, July and August. A full-day bus tour to areas outside the Twin Cities, usually in June. Note: information above is subject to change.
The Club has created a Facebook page called the Shoreview Garden Club. It is a private group meaning only members can find the group and see posts. To join, you will need to create your own Facebook page (if you don't already have one) and then email Linda Kilcher (a club member) at [email protected] to express your interest in being included.
