Champlin Garden Club
Champlin Garden Club (CGC) is a group of gardeners, from novice to expert, who meet monthly to to hear presentations on gardening related topics, participate in activities and share ideas.
In addition to the regular programs, the Champlin Garden Club members contribute to the community by maintaining the gardens at Doris Kemp Park and decorating the holiday trees at Champlin City Hall and the Parks Department.
Each May, the club holds a plant sale in the Champlin American Legion parking lot. Proceeds from this sale are reinvested in the community by way of: (1) plantings and upkeep of the gardens at Doris Kemp Park, (2) donations to the horticulture programs at several local schools, and (3) expert speakers on gardening issues at club meetings (the public is always welcome to join us for speaker presentations).
The mission of the Champlin Garden Club is "To provide education and to encourage interest in all phases of gardening and promote better horticultural practices, civic beauty and the conservation of natural resources."
The club meets the second Monday of every month at 7:00 pm at the Champlin-Brooklyn Park Academy, 6100 109th Avenue, Champlin, MN 55316. The school is located on the north side of 109th Avenue between the Holiday Gas Station and Jackson Middle School. How the CGC Contributes to the Community
The Champlin Garden Club plants and maintains the gardens at Doris Kemp park, 169 & West River Road in Champlin. The proceeds from the annual plant sales are used to fund educational programs. In recent years the club has funded the purchase of propagation equipment and a trailer for Champlin Park H.S Horticulture Department.
CGC Annual Plant Sale
The club held its first plant sale in spring of 1990. The early sales were a combined plant and garage sale. Over the years the sale evolved to plants only. The May 2015 plant sale will be the 25th Annual Plant Sale. Proceeds from the sales are used for purchasing seeds and plants for the Doris Kemp Park and supplies and scholarships for horticulture school programs.
